Automatic time out?

Hey all,
hope someone can answer this for me?

Ok I use a MTN Pay As You Go SIM in a Linux router box.
But if the connection ideas for more than 45 mins DNS, Pings, Trace Routes all time out?
So I have to reconnect and all it well.
Does MTN have a time out like Vodacom use to before Vodacom introduced the Linksys routers?
It is getting really irritating reconnecting 3 times a day.
Also is there a program I can use to just send out a ping or DNS lookup on a windows machine like every 30 mins. So I can keep the connection alive?

Couldn't you just set up up outlook to send and receive to an email account you don't use every 30mins automatically?
