We got ADSL about 4/5 years ago now. When we had it installed we were on the boundary and the techs often say it is tight that we were ever given it. If they have installed a mini-DSLAM closer to me, will they automatically move me to it or will I need to phone and see if there is another one closer to me?

The Mini-DSLAM will be connect to the local loop running to your house. So if they do install a Mini-DSLAM they will "have to" connect you, without you even knowing.
It is a jumper process so they could overlook you.

It make sense on ther side as it will free up port at the exchange, if they need them is a totally other question.

Was in a Telkom exchange the other day and they have DSLAM units standing with hundreds of unused ports.
