My Samsung S4 Speaker stopped working. If someone calls me it only works through the speakerphone and not the normal ear piece.

My phone is less than 6 months old, no water/drop damage.

Autopage tested the phone while i was in store and saw it was not working.

I was then told 10 to 14 days for the phone to get repaired or else replaced. It seems crazy to wait so long for a phone even to be inspected when it is only 5 months old. They didn't have any spare phones to give me either.

Does anybody know what the Consumer Protection Act says about the period they can inspect the phone for or do they have to swop it out immediately?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think there is anything about a inspect/swop out period in the CPA, and if there were, the cell companies and networks wipe their arses with it. You are pretty much left to their decisions

The CPA is toothless. They are deliberately understaffed and exist only so the ANC can say they are working for the people.

Unfortunately, Autopage is one of the worst cellular service providers too.

10 to 14 days is not bad, if they can hold themselves to this. I would start nagging after 10 days

Seems like I have no choice but to follow their decisions.

I will never have a contract with Autopage again.

You should have taken it straight to samsung.

This. The Samsung repair centre near 14th avenue is quite good. If it's under warranty with vodacom, take it to vodacare. Offer the sales agent some lunch if they have your phone repaired chop chop. Works like a charm.

If the phone is a Vodacom device, go to Vodaworld in Midrand (If you are in Gauteng, otherwise another repair agent) and request them to escalate the job for a sealed replacement. I've used CPA against them 3 times now and twice it has worked, should be fetching the current job number next week and hopefully it will be a third successful try. PM me for details of Vodaworld Midrand escalation contact
