Hey guys

Just wanted to know, I'm up for an upgrade next month and I've been looking at new phones... But AutoPage with their MTN packages are really rubbish even just compared with the Vodacom ones...

Cant even get a Nokia 5800 free on a AnyTime 200... I think my sister got hers from iTalk on AnyTime 100 for free... Anyone else notice this or am I just being paranoid?

Or is it time to change providor...

Bro,I got the same question... My brother is due for an upgrade with Autopage Mtn and their current price is ****...u must Pay in for an E63 on a 100 package, while MtnSp has for R89 pm total...

Yes MTNsp has the best deal from all the networks! R139 per month for Anytime 100 topup and then you get the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music handset free!

Not one other service provider could have beaten this deal. All of them needed a pay in of atleast R1799

I didnt upgrade my contract with autopage because of the same thing...I felt like i was being ripped off. And unfortunately i didnt get my number back but i'm happy with mtnsp now!

Yes. 3rd party not very good. Call 808. They reply, "You need to call your service provider"

Why didnt you keep your number?

Can't I keep my number if I move from one to another :/ I might just change, although I like AutoPAges web interface... If I'm not mistaken iTalk merged with MTNSP?

when i was moving my contract to mtnsp they said i can port my number from one service provider to another but after doing the application they said the port was later declined. i couldn't wait any longer so i just took a contract with a new number

And what reason did they cite for this?

Autopage didn't want with my number cos it was already inactive or sumthin like that.So mtnsp suggested i go directly to autopage and ask for the number. i called autopage, they said the number is still available but they have to submit my request to another department .they kept on playing delaying tactics so i jus left it cos i needed a new phone urgently as the other one was no longer workin.

Yeah these service providers  are all the same. You pay them these exorbitant sums of money and seemingly you get very little in return.

Maybe it was your number was inactive that was the root cause, I hope I don't have hassles when I port early next year.

yah maybe someone who knows more about porting should explain...i think u should port before ur number is inactive but after u've issued a cancellation notice to ur current provider

Would also be keen to find out how this actually works?

You should port your number within the last month of your existing contract. You will even be able to port 2 month before the end of your contract although you will still need to pay for both months!

example:

I have a Vodacom contract. 2 months befor they terminate it. I call Vodacom SP or Autopage or Nashua or whoever is your ISP and request a port from them. Once they have approved my request I go to MTNSP and do the normal signup prosedure. They will add a port request too.
Your number will be ported to MTN.

BUT. You will still have to pay vodacom for 2 months. As you have 2 months on your contract left eventhough you didn't use Vodacom anymore.

Its that simple. It better to request it in the last billing month of your contract. Don't do it a few days before the contract ends cause the port might not go through in time and there may be delays also so you need to cater for that.

I requested a port from CellC contract 1 week before the contract ended. I lost my number. "Port in request denied from Service Provider"

Why? The port was only submitted by MTN a day before my CellC number expired. That night when they wanted to port my number, CellC had allready deleted it.
