Hi guys,

I am trying to copy installation files from a usb memory stick to the hdd, but the anti-virus software is not allowing me access to copy the autorun.inf file. It is not a virus, how do i get around this, just to copy that file over.

Thanks

temporarily disable your anti-virus... isn't that the easiest?

I wanted to say safe mode, but you figured it out before I could. The other workaround is using a live Ubuntu disk if you don't already have it installed. Ubuntu always copy stuff without asking questions :D

BTW, while we are talking about Autorun.inf, I found that creating a folder with the name "autorun.inf" in the root of flashdrives solves the constant annoying autorun virus issues.

In command prompt, open your flash drive.
then run:
attrib autorun.inf -s -h
del autorun.inf

If still not working, try and delete the file now from your flash via windows explorer

I will try that next time, thanks.

Now onto the next problem, diskpart in XP doesn't recognise 'removable' devices, only Vista's version does, because i want to make the usb disk bootable.
Firstly should i post this in a new thread?
Secondly, is there a hassle free way of doing this, i'm not expecting it to be as easy as with Vista using diskpart, but as i don't currently has access to a Vista machine, i need another way.

Thanks again
