Aplon, Reinach set for Bok recalls
https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/aplon-reinach-set-bok-recalls/

Gio Aplon and Cobus Reinach are set to be included in the Springbok squad for the European tour in November.

According to Rapport, Aplon, who has 17 Test caps, could be set for his first inclusion in a Springbok squad since 2012.

The 36-year-old currently plays for Jake White’s Verblitz side in Japan.

Northampton scrumhalf Reinach could also be set for a recall, after impressing with the Premiership side this season.

With incumbent Faf de Klerk’s availability for the Tests against England, France, Scotland and Wales still unclear, the door has been opened for Reinach, who won the last of his 10 caps against Argentina in 2015.

A wider training squad, which will exclude players based overseas and those involved in the Currie Cup final, will assemble on Sunday afternoon, with the final squad to be named shortly after the Currie Cup final.

Gio Aplon is 36 now?! Holy crap. Damn I hope he still has what it takes. He's a joy to watch when in full flight.

It's also such a pity that England has been decimated by injuries. 12 months ago, the rugby world was salivating over the prospect of England vs New Zealand. Now it seems there will only be one winner.

Japan announced their team earlier today. It is pretty much the stock standard national team, but with Hendrik Tui back in the mix. Still lacking depth on lock... they basically have 3 locks in the team, one being Wimpie van der Walt who is by no means a utility.

They are playing their core players, some are being rested during these internationals, but they have the depth which isn’t in this selection, maybe they will have depth come the New Zealand game next week.

Micheal Leitch is also called captain again.

World XV should easily beat them imho, but who knows...

Will Willie Britz and Grant Hattingh qualify for Japan before the world cup?

Jamie Joseph is being criticized at the moment, he excluded the 'best' player, Takuya Yamasawa, in the Top League. Said in a press statement that the guy is too young and would be thrown in the cauldron by playing these tests, stating that he would be surplus and not needed. Many pundits in Japan believe that he doesn’t want to give the guy a chance.

Sad really as Japan needs the youth, but Joseph did recruit two other youngsters, both which he had put in New Zealand's Mitre 10 development squads.

Anyhow, Japan will be hurt tomorrow, no Shota Horie, but the two current hookers are more than capable, but they need leadership. Tatekawa which can kick when needed to… And Amanaki who is suspended and who may never return to play the game pending on the case.
