Good day all, hope you all are doing well. I would please like to ask for some advice on which AV receiver to get for a set of speakers that I received as a gift. The speakers are a 5.1 configuration. The subwoofer is independently powered and amplified and only needs to receive audio signal. The power of the remaining speakers are as follows:

  • center speaker: 150W, 8 ohms
  • front two speakers are 180W, 8 ohms
  • rear speakers: 125W, 8 ohms
Could you please advise on a suitable AV receiver to drive the system. It will be connected to my TV and I will not be using it at excessively high volumes as I do not wish to intrude on the neighbors peace and quite.

Which brand speakers did you get?

I prefer Denon amplifiers. I have an old NAD I am selling in order to buy the Denon in the link above.

OP still hasn't said what budget is.
Try and find something like this

Not worth buying brand new if you on a tight budget.
You just going to get crap sounding stuff, yes it will make a noise but at low volumes you will struggle to hear speech etc meaning you turn volume up and then all of a sudden there is an explosion in the movie and the sound is so loud you wake up your neighbours.
My advice IMO is stick to Yamaha, Rotel, NAD etc if you can. Just shop around, they're are out there
