My budget is probably R4K
I am considering upgrading my surround sound, if one can call it that. I currently have a Philips home theatre system, the all in one box and I am not happy with the quality of sound.
Most of the content I watch is from DSTV or my Med8er media player and the vocals coming from the centre speaker are always too soft. Then when the crash booms come they are super loud. And I hate this. I have the decoder connected to the TV via HDMI and optical for the sound. Media player is via HDMI to TV and coax for the sound.
So if I were to buy just an AV Receiver and connect my existing speakers would I be able to increase the volume on the individual speakers? I had a Technics many years ago that could do this.
One prerequisite is that the amp/ receiver must have at least 4 HDMI inputs. So should I buy a complete system or just the amp? I am looking at one of the Pioneer models. Something like http://www.makro.co.za/electronics/pioneer-5-1-channel-av-reciever-264105EA
