Hi all / new member here ;)

What would you say is the everage difference between day and night connection downlink speeds. Do u find days being very much slower? What will happen if more subscribers sign on to iburst and the towers get flooded with like 100 = 1024 / 1000 +10kbs (if ur lucky).

This what happens all over the world. A friend in NYC e-mailed me yesterday and said each tower had 32mbps.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated as a mistake in choice can cost money in the future!!!! for all!!

What is the naverage u ppl get day and night in regard to speed of download?

Regards

Look i am with IBURST and have been since Nov. 2004. I must tell you i have had my fair share of k@k with them but remember its portable so u can use it anywhere where there is signal. This is a big plus side to it. As for all the other complaints- i hope they will work out. We all have to understand the contention issue. More users per base station = worse speeds for us. Do u have IBURST? I am overall fairly happy and i suppose any service will have a lot of problems.
I cannot get DSL at home as i am too far away from the exchange and the line quality is really bad. so i hope this helps mate.

yes I am borrowing a friends for a week to test, but a UTC. My PC is upside down on its face to get the antenae facing up.im on the second storey of my house about 1km from base station get ave 80m/s

What is your idea of fine +40 / 60 / 80 / 120 /250/ 400 / ? On average? I sthere diff between day and night?

At the moment (actually for a while now) speeds are definitely better at night than during the day. I think it's WBS curbing heavy usage during the day while they get their bandwith manager sorted. Last night many people, including myself, got very good 'capped' speeds (40-80k+), so maybe they took the bandwidth manager offline to work on it...who knows.

My best speeds are at night and the highest speeds I can get happen on weekends, particularly on Sundays

How did I get 200+ this weekend then. Maybe I have a bandwidth fairy looking after me, and I stay on top a hill and live in double storey house.

= sweet spot!!??

lol yeah its like that with me also. When I wasnt capped my connection was quick. Easly getting 200kbs+ on some downloads.

Now Im capped. I get about 16kbs on international downloads, while listening to international streaming video (Galloway Trial on Infowars.com), and browsing and chating etc.

It sure beats the hell outta the adsl cap

I don't notice any difference in day and night speeds.....although pings seem to be higher at night for me.

it depends on the circumstances -

usually night is faster due to the reduced amount of users - but wbs co tend to try to implement new technologies at night (read: reduced users), like the poxy proxy, which tends to have adverse effects on speeds.

I don't use iBurst during the day so I can't say much about speeds then. I'm just getting what I paid for (120KB/s before cap & 6-8KB/s afterwards) and can't complain about speeds.

If the day speeds are slow because of the number of active users on the network, then WBS have a problem.

Where you reading this speed? Is it kiloBytes(kB) or kilobits(kb)
if it is
kB=well done new record (that i have seen)
kb=bad speed
