Hi Guys,

I tied the knot the beginning of last month, wife is anxious to see the photos, as a colleague got married on the same day, and she has hers already?

I asked her for an ETA 2 weeks after the wedding and received this reply:

Hi, we still busy with a few wedding films and photobooks that were before your wedding they just take up some time, been very busy working late nights, will try give you a small preview in a weeks time of a couple of your photos, will let you know how long still in a week or so when we show a small preview for you.

Well it's been just over 6 weeks now and we've yet to hear back from her. Are we too impatient?

Some photographers have a long turnaround time, this should have been covered in your meeting/s with them before the wedding and/or in the contract. I usually have my wedding albums done within two weeks.

Isn't it in the agreement?

I think ours was 90 days, but were done in three weeks.

A week but I'm very selective about the weddings I shoot and I don't edit heavily.

6 weeks as per agreement, and delivered withing that time frame

Takes me 3 to 4 weeks and if I have a backlog, I will inform the couple beforehand and keep them in the loop of things as they progress.

The hard drive died and they are feverishly trying to recover the photos while spinning you stories :p :D

A month and a half, then you get informed of a robbery and all your photos are gone :/
The above happened to my friend.

What ever happened to cloud storage??

I doubt cloud storage is a feasible option for your typical South African wedding photographer.

What's the internet cost compared to the financial loss suffered when your business is taken from you?

.zip the folder with pics in, send to dropbox/google account or whatever.

Problem solved.

Not so easy_ photographer use RAW mode and 1000 to 2000 raw photos takes a fair amount of space. This is for one wedding and each approximately 10 MB in size.

It's got nothing to do with the cost of broadband - it's the lack of bandwidth, particularly upstream. This makes moving hundreds or even thousands of large image files impractical.

The cloud should not be your only backup anyway.
