Average water usage per household

we are a family of 5... dad mom 3 kids all under13. my landlord just sent me a water bill for well.over R13k... could anyone clarify how much water should if we supposedly used 230kl per month. all sug

no no have you checked the meter reading R13K that is crazy could be a leak or a calculation error..

The most I've seen is my BIL. R4000 p.m. Huge house, irrigation system, swimming pool, lots of people.

Your bill must be a mistake, or there's a leak somewhere.

Either they have been under reading for while because of estimates or you have leak or they read the meter wrong. Compare the meter reading between the bill and meter allow for some usage since they took the reading.

Also make sure all the taps in the property is closed, then go outside to the meter and see if it is spinning, if so you have a leak.

2 adults in a 3 bedroom house with pool - 10,000 - 15,000l p/m winter/ summer. we fairly water wise with plants and have a 5000l tank for veggies.
