Hi All

I have a 1TB with numerous series episodes on it - HD DVD rips of about 350mb (Widescreeen copies)for 40 odd minutes, quality is pretty good on 54cm SD TV, just a bit small.

anyone know what it would look like on 32inch HD LCD?
I play it through my LG dvd player connected to tv with component cables.
 
If it looks good on your 54cm it will look good on your LCD.
The LG menu/operating system thing will look crap:p
 
yip, should be watchable, but do yourself a favour and get hold of a 720p episode, they just over 1gb in size, i notice a big difference on my LG, these days i almost exclusively download the 720p episodes due to the quality difference....

eish, i'm glad I don't have to waste money downloading HD quality series :eek:

...other people do it for me.

I think its going to look quite a lot worse... but probably still watchable. I have a 74cm TV and most avis that I watch are similar in size - the quality is acceptable, but it still irritates me. In wide screen format, the 32" will give a larger picture than my 74cm.

Normal DSTV is similar - on a small CRT TV it looks fine, but looks horrible on a large LCD or Plasma.

I would test it out before you buy :)
 
rubbish. I've also got most of my series in 350mb DVD Rips (Or from a HD TV Source) and they look fine to me! (And that is on a 42" Display, not a 32")

Movie: 700MB for 80
Series: 350MB for 40

Rest assured Hemps, you'll be watching Series in DVD Quality, 32" or not

Also Remember, a Movie is sometimes even longer than 80 minutes and a Series could be less like 22 mins....

Okay, well that's your opinion... :rolleyes:

I can see a big difference between a DVD and a 700MB rip, even on my CRT.

On my 32" LCD, 350MB TV Series look fine and 700MB Movies also look just fine. Happy with the quality!
 
720p episodes look very nice, but the normal 350mb episodes still looks better than dstv for me.
 
yip 720p rip is best (and usually has 5.1 sound)
350mb watchable and still better then normal TV.

Yup, also watching on a 42inch lcd and I don't have any problem with it. I'll rather go for HD rips for movies cause you also get the Dolby / DTS surround sound, but for tv series the normal rips are fine. The TV rips and DVDRips are a lot better than DSTV.
 
Nothing at all wrong with xvid rips on my 50”. 720p and 1080p are out of this world.
 
well that depends on what quality it is...
ts= telesync crap
cam even more crap, so when you download or "get" your movies go for dvd rip, dvd scr, or anything else but stay away from telesync and cam...

Really?, thats weird, cause I prefer the cellcam.GermanAudio.polish subtitle Rips :confused:
 
Weird... I watched some 350MB avis of House last night and compared with DSTV (Hallmark) - DSTV looked much better to me. With the avis, the background parts of the image are always moving.

Not trying to stir... but do you guys that prefer the avis actually have DSTV?
