Avoid this expensive mistake when buying a new car

What absolute 💩 insurance company is this?
Every car I have every bought, the pro rata is deducted with your next regular Debit Order and full coverage applies until then. If the car is stolen before the payment is made, you only have to make the payment to have the coverage kick in.

This actually happened to an employee of mine and the pro rata part was simply withheld from the final settlement amount.

Damn, this is just an insurance company being an ******* because they can

Yeah, would also like to know which insurance company to avoid...

Yeah that sounds sus. Just because a debit order fails doesn’t nullify the insurance contract immediately. And a proof of insurance letter is exactly that: proof of insurance. Sounds like a super scummy insurer to me.

With Naked Insurance the pro rata premium got deducted immediately from my bank account. There was a mistake as I didn't select "trendline" on the Naked App and the dealership never wanted to let the vehicle go until I corrected it. It cost me a 2nd deduction and the 1st deduction was reversed a day or 2 later.

2 mistakes the people made.
1. Financed a 3 yr old car over 7 years.
2. Bought a "new" car and never had a spare R550.

The biggest mistake, not ticking all of those option boxes. Much more expensive to get them later.
