Avoiding Static???

How to ground yourself in such a way that you avoid static when working with pc components - what are the recommended ones other than a strap.

I've been told the following:

Install the power supply to the chassis. Plug the power cable into the PSU and the wall (with the plug switched off at the wall). This apparently means the chassis is now grounded. Whenever you handle your PC components make sure your skin is in contact with the chassis' frame. That should keep you grounded.

I've been using the above technique and I haven't blown anything yet.
