You'll still have like 1k left over from buying them, use that towards a new mobo...

Do not have a motherboard that supports sli
A single 5970 will equal 2 5850's - xfiring isn't necessarily the best choice here. 5970 punches above weight for its price/performance.

Klaas.... what are your overall specs without the graphics card? You might need to upgrade everything or you'll bottleneck - that's a very very fast gpu.
With his 1000w he may as well go sli 470, as those will rape both the 2x5850 and 5970. But then again we dunno what his other specs are.. And i assume his screen res is about 1920x1200?
Missed that but not like 120p make a big difference and I was just saying if you wanna go 2 cards 470 is better than 5850...
Still would be easier if he posted his whole system specs! Drips and draps of information is not very coherent..
But for that res you really dont need more than 470 or 5850 or 5870
LOL I hope you're joking because. 1920x1200 is exactly 11.1% more pixels than 1920x1080.120p is a Beeeeeeg difference when it comes to games and desktop resolutions.
More than double the amount of pixels.

Is it really worth spending R7k?? How future proof will a 470 be? I shop in the sweet spot- not the top or bottom of the range. Can then upgrade more often a have fun overclocking etc...
If i understand 120p correctly it means the monitor displays 120 frames /second. It doesnt display any more pixels.

A GTX470 is R3600.
We aren't talking about fps. We're talking about the difference between 1080p and 1200p. which is 120p.
