Wow. I signed up for 4mb uncapped residential @539/month this morning. So far: EXCELLENT!!!! 2.6mb/.27 down/up to/from UK and US!! decent latency (100ms local, 300ms international). Prorated the first month. My vpns work fine, apparently not shaped. So far, so amazing. Voip works (single channel).

We'll see how this proceeds as they take on more customers but to Mweb: Wow, you have made my month!

I'm pretty sure that this marks the beginning of the catch up for South African IT/Internet and other telco-reliant businesses, as well as the beginning of a bit of a revolution in South Africa for general internet use. Movies, music, streaming, interactive content for everyone... excellent.

i don't know how fast p2p/torrents or news will be... I don't use any of them. i'm sure there'll be lots of shaping though...

P2P and news (and any other non-standard protocol) is shaped during business/peak hours. The service is unshaped after hours and weekends.

How did you order the service, on the web site they only have the call me back option. not realy in the mood for speaking to them, have hangover. Maybe i can subscribe online ?
