Axess / AYCE / Telkom : latency high ping?

A question : is anyone experiencing high latency on Axxes or any other bandwidth provider other than the Telkom one.
This applies mainly to online gaming and mostly on local servers, not international, one theory is that the Axxes or other providers have higher ping times because they are routed through other / extra servers .
please comment on your experiences or qualified comment.

I have Axxess account and I posted a thread on my pings times little earlier ... I am getting 20-23 ms ping to ananzi for example ... I don't think you can get any better than that.

Just checked again, still in the 20-23 ms region ...

if you want I can test for some other site, just give me the ip/name

It is mainly the local gaming sites that i am interested in . Looking to play fps type games and i am hearing that some adsl is not up to scratch ?

I get a constant 35ms on the local UT2004 SGS Servers with axxess on my 192k ADSL. I'm happy .

gaming is abit messed currently on adsl especially during the day. I don't know what telkom is catching on. a 8 months I could be dl'ing @ 40k and still be playing on the local reason server without abit of lag....

well i find during the day i get pings of 20-30 while using 10k to download

adsl is awesome for local gaming not int gaming

Obelix, AYCE and Axxess goes through the EXACT same servers as Telkom. There is NO difference. That is just a rumour going around...

Rumours indeed, do yourself a favour to end the rumours personally, do a trace locally and internationally to same server/dns on both accounts.

Check it out, its exactly the same.

long day - but what i have been told is that anything other than telkom , suffers latency .

Pinging Ananzi, I get pings of about 45 (I've got Axxess), but I am in Paarl, so I guess the distance justify the pings...online sgs Battlefield 1942 server, I get pings of 30-40
