Hi.

After a whole day of fault finding, turns out my axpert is somehow giving me a earthing voltage.

With no input or output wires connected. I measure 80-100vac from earth to negative on both ac input and output terminals on the inverter while running standalone on batteries.

Surely this is not correct? My earth leakage doesn't pick it up, but does trip occasionally/frequently.
Any advise is appreciated.
Pete

Some of them have a neutral earth bond and some dont. Depending on where its been installed in the curcuit this may or may not cause an issue. Did you have an electrician install it?

This is what a mate referred me 2.. Hardly any info on it. Presume it's a relay that bonds earth to neutral when running on inverter and opens the bond when running on grid.

It's old. But faithful. Think it's always been doing it from the start.

Turns out, this grounding switch is exactly what I needed.

Problem solved.

Thanks for the help

And further more turns out the Cbi astute was tripping my earth leakage when axpert inverter switched from inverter to utility.

Earth leakage before or after inverter ?
Inverter, breaker, earth leakage to house. Included in the house is the cbi astute switch switching and monitoring geyser.

Tripped often when inverter changed from battery to eskom but only when cbi was connected.

Taken it off. No further problems.

Yes. Geyser should have been connected to non essential loads. But my inverter can handle the geyser.

All in all, i needed that grounding switch and had to remove my cbi switch.

What cbi switch are we talking about?
