How are you guys finding this service. Especially regarding shaping of News severs, torrent DLs and streaming during work hours.

I'm looking at DLing around 30GB to hopefully even 50GB a month. Not sure what qualifies as " heavy downloads" to axxess :erm:

I know people with this account and frankly I have been very impressed with its performance.

I very much doubt that 50 Gigs is going to cause you any trouble, considering the hundreds of gigs others are downloading.

BTW what's the story on that page? If you compare the top downloads across the speed ranges you get

384 - 153gb
512 - 182gb
1024 - 82gb
4meg+ - 776gb

My line only syncs at 1024 & I've been considering this product but I'm concerned about the dip in consumption at 1024. How come the top downloader on 1024 used less than no. 10 on both the 384 & 512 charts? Just imagine if the top 10th downloader on 1024 only used 7gb where the top 20% are going to experience shaping according to IS.

Interested 'cos I'm not partial to paying good money for a under-performing product.

My guess would be that there a lot more people on the 384, 512 and 4mb accounts than on the 1mb?

I'm happy, been with them for a few months on the R19 per 1Gb, but moved over too the Express+ yesterday and very happy so far

I didn't get any messages like that. It was a total surprise. 9 gig on 384kb/s was the point where I lost a star and then fro 4 stars it rapidly went downhill from there. 12 Gig and I was 2 stars getting shaped.
The speeds and everything were great, but 9 gig is too little to start the shaping.

The figures reported on their website are just fiction. No doubt about it.

My friend with the account (previously mentioned) was on one star and still easily managed well over ten gigs in an evening on torrents. What does the shaping affect then?

Torrent speeds are cut quite dramatically and ping goes very high.

That's what I thought should happen. Not quite what happened with them though, perhaps they are just lucky.

Torrents about 70k and Newsgroups about 250k - Local Ping 19ms on Speedtest and full line speed, International 200 - 250ms and about 1/2 line speed

48GB in a week. I'd like to be able to do that in a month with minimal shaping. How long will you be shaped for? Do you earn individuals stars back over time or go straight back to 5 stars?

If only I knew how the star thing works, it is annoying and not transparent enough, how do I know they are not just talking crap to save bandwidth
