Axxess Hosting Server Speed

Hi, does anyone know you to improve my upload/delete files from Axxess FTP servers.

I am uploading Joomla websites but takes around 1 hour to upload on a 4meg line and the same amount of time to delete.

Hetzner takes around 10/15 minutes to upload 13 Megs ?

try call axxess and ask them?

My one server is hosted overseas and it takes that long but my local server is quick. Dunno if axxess's servers are hosted locally or internationally. Could be latency?

I wouldnt host my site with axxess though. There are better providers out there giving more for cheaper.
 
Hi froggy74,

FTP Transactions can take a while with certain dynamic sites due to overhead of many files. It can take a lot longer to upload a set of smaller size files to a single large file of comparable size.

The best way to avoid this would be to use SSH (if they provide this feature) and extract the files on the server remotely.

On the other hand, it could be that they really do have just a slow server ;)

Thanx, I applied for an account at WebAfrica and the local servers is fast!! Will see later today if my joomla sites are good to go!
 
I also have 3 hosted sites on Axxess. My recommendation, go somewhere else, their hosting speeds are VERY VERY slow!

doesn't really make sense since it should generally be quicker if accessing a local site; eg: fewer hops and routes to reach the destination/target website.

I'm not sure which data center Axxess use but perhaps it's more an issue of an over-loaded shared environment server with lack of server resources and not so much bandwidth/network resources.
 
i know this dont make a difference to speed but they dont use static IP addresses, they use dynamic with their VIP DNS service
