4 meg uncapped for 496 a month.

Anyone used it? The figures they have on their website indicate 600gb is easy.

No stay away from them :P stop making threads for them:P

You should really stipulate in your blog which uncapped products you test, because it is very ambiguous, uncapped, uncapped express, uncapped express+?

Yes, good advice. Makes sense. Going to update it quickly. Thanks!

While i agree that its a good blog, the account name is fail. firstly the Axxess Express is not R496, that is the Uncapped Shaped Product. The uncapped Express is R899, where as the Express+ is 999. Furthermore i am using express+ and achieving full download speeds.

@semaphore - your basic premise is correct. but i can't help but feel that people would initially think the similar products are being compared. but yes it should be clear.

Natedogg - semaphores account (i think) are the ones that run full 4Mbps from roughly sometime after 19h30 (but definitely at 20h00) to 08h00 (and maybe a little bit over).. I had one of those for about a year. But because I do somewhere between 200GB and 300GB a month; the Mweb account is a far better option for me. Even with all the disruptions that have been experienced in the last 3 months or so.

The Axxess line described above has a far higher reliability level as per the T&Cs (I think).

@Milo - You can easily pull that amount of traffic with the Axxess Express+ accounts. And its full speed until threshold has been reached. If you calculate the speed of mweb from 19:30 to the morning you will not get the same amount of traffic a day. This i have already prooved over the weekend.

@Natedog - those speeds where recorded yesterday morning when i made the post.

I had an Axxess Express+ account so if you use it to its max overnight, i suspect you could download more than on the mweb accounts on a normal torrent/nntp basis. however as i state you have to be a heavy downloader (haven't done the break-even numbers but I suspect that it is somewhere north of 600GB). If you are not a heavy downloader, the the Express+ accounts are relatively more expensive. And I suppose that is the cost of getting the surety of connection. But even though I could afford it, the MWeb account still seems much better on a cost/benefit analysis. Even with this kind of break we are dealing with.

edit - this article i think goes some way to proving my point

@semaphore. Only if you are not using the internet from 8am to 8pm on Weekdays is the Express+ account superior to Mweb uncapped. I had Axxess Express+ before Mweb came along. Paying R460pm more for an account you can barely use for 60 hours of the week doesn't make much sense to me.

but look at the numbers:

uncapped seacom breaking account - 643GB @R0.77
express satellite - 633GB @R1.42 (Express+ will be slightly more expensive)

effectively you have to do around 1.2TB to match Mweb. Probably allows me 2 weeks of no internet access on MWeb before the top Axxess accounts make sense on a cost/benefit analysis.

edit2: going for one of these seacom accounts is a no brainer for a household in the long-term even if you buy one 3GB WA package a month as backup i reckon.

Agreed, but in the evening when i want to download something and i get pathetic speeds of 40kB/s i then am not getting my monies worth, i am paying for a 4mbit account and getting 512K speeds. Then its oh its a bandwidth pool priority. Thanks ill pay the extra few rands and have the speed i want in the evening and weekend, furthermore it suites me fine as i don't use the internet at home during the day. It took alot of justification to get it. But i am happy so far.

Well i can do roughly 8-10gb a day on mweb uncapped. So i could pull 300gb with no problems if it working :D. I suppose if you want like 500+gb's mweb's cheap uncapped is not for you and then axxess express looks superior.

When i first had mweb i could do that aswell, and then it went down to 4gb a day. And its not about being a heavy downloader or wanting to-do 50gb a day. Its about the speed. WHEN and IF i want something i want it fast.
