I have a 3Gb account with Axxess which, as you know, costs R199 a month. I never use all my bandwidth.

Nov - 1.5Gb;
Dec - 2.1Gb;
Jan - 2.3Gb;
Feb - 1.6Bg;
March 1.6Gb.

So this past weekend, I decided to use my remaining badwidth to download the the demo of F.E.A.R. which is 640 Mb - 11 hours to download. So I start, and after 8 hours and 500 something megs, Axxess auto resets the line.

And because I am stupid, I didn't know about download managers. So I have to restart the download, and what happens? Exactly 8 hours later on the dot, Axxess resets the connection.

So now I have learnt to use a download manager so I don't have to start the download from scratch, and also that Axxess resets every 8 hours.

My question is: If I normally only use a little more than half my 3Gb, why should I be put on a 8 hour reset? Onions to you Axxess!

Yeah you tell them! But behind every evil thing that happens in our telecommunications sector, you will find Telkom flicking the switch. If things were normal here, Axxess probably wouldn't have to do things like that.

I agree... poor axxess...they're not the greatest.. I always want to switch to another provider, but then, my only other acceptable choice is telkom and really... fxck telkom...so I stay with axxess..

The ISPs can set the intervals at which your line reconnects. They can configure it so that the closer you get to the cap the more often it resets, as ISPs have to fork out for overages out of their own pockets..

Web Africa rock.

i disabled 'more disconnects as you get closer to your cap'. so now i don't get disconnected at all. but if i go over the 3GB cap, i obviously have to pay for it.
