Axxess misleading advertising?

Dr friend had fibre delivered to his house so wanted an ISP. He spotted an ad for R189 for a 100Gb service and asked Axxess to install

When they came to install, even though the box was right outside his house and there was a conduit with a draw wire in it, the tech wanted R1200 to pull the wire through, meantime on the phone there was supposed to be free installation

At this point he called me and I suggested he call Axxess as there was no way he could get a 100Gb service for R189, it should be at least R500 more. After 20 mins on the phone to Axxess, they said they were sorry the full package was not clearly shown on the website, but it was in fact R550 or something extra on top of the R189

He cancelled the service there and then

I looked at the website and there is no mention of an extra fee. How are people not conversant with IT supposed to figure this out? This fellow is a brain surgeon and expects people to be up front with him

I called Axxess myself and could not get a meaningful response, the fellow avoiding the questions put to him
 
A case for the CPA maybe? If I see them advertising a package for R189 on their site then that's what I expect to pay. The prorata amount even says R37 due now. Where does the extra R550 factor into that?

Lol......surprised nobody noticed the iron knee of a person in the medical industry bitching about another industry not being upfront with fees.

guess misleading advertising worked for Telkom without penalties so everyone else figured SA consumers gullible?
 
No point in giving you the doctor's details since he is quite happy with the service that Afrihost is providing. I had a run-in with Axxess myself a while ago when I discovered you were charging me R23 a month too much and ignored requests for refund

Receiving smarmy emails "regretting the error" does not cut it with me. Advertising Rx and charging Rx + R23,00 is plain dishonest practice
