Axxess moving to MTN

Cannot wait. The issues the last few months thanks to IS have me drooling for the promise of a better experience via the MTN network.

Don't get your hopes up, MTN NS are far far worse than IS in my experience dealing with them

Axxess said it's a new network designed for ADSL. So lets hope they are correct and it's not part of the 3G crap!

But I will know soon as my one account moves over on the 17th of this month.

I'm talking about their business internet services, not even going to get into their 3G network.

But yeah let's wait and see what happens.

So how is it ?

It seems to me to be really slow or really shaped.

I tried to download a Linux iso image from a SA http host and it was locked on 100kb/s on a 10mbit uncapped account.
Pings seem fine, but speedtests are returning mixed results, it would sometimes come back as a 1mbit line and the next time a 4mbit line.

Anyone else having mixed experience? Last week the account was amazing! constantly above 6mbit speeds were achieved on all protocols.

@eddief1 its pretty good, still full speed on 4 meg line and local latency is about 15ms.

So far their daytime performance is better than IS especially on monday mornings, latency is rock solid so far.

International latency is lower to the US by about 50ms now 310ms, latency to UK is about the same 195-205ms.

What's it like now? I can't wait to test the MTN network when I get moved over. Sick of IS

@m0zy its pretty much the same today, But it is a unshaped capped account.
But it seems like the uncapped accounts are having major performance problems.

@Louis72 How is it going for you now? All good my side!

I'm getting terrible throughput today with my Axxess account - its uncapped express - normally I got full speed after hours from anywhere and the account was advertised as not being throttled or shaped at all after hours - but this is clearly not the case - I pay R 900 a month for it - if Axxess/MTN doesnt shape up I'm moving.
