Axxess' own ADSL Infrastructure

When I spoke to them they let me know that they are currently building their own ADSL infrastructure, which will be semi-shaped, and will have unlimited local access.

They say that testing begins in December, and it will be available to the public in the beginning of the New Year.

Here is the proposed pricing for January 2006:

[Semi-Shaped ADSL Accounts – Prices include VAT@14%]
1Gb = R 99.00 10Gb = R 499.00
2Gb = R 149.00 15Gb = R 599.00
3Gb = R 199.00 20Gb = R 699.00
4Gb = R 249.00 25Gb = R 849.00
5Gb = R 349.00 30Gb = R 999.00

They ****ing mad? As if I would pay that...even if it is their own infrastructure. Man some people are really trying their luck. :eek:

I'm just trying to get my head around this "own infrastructure" thing. Surely that would qualify as competition and something Telkom would not stand for.:confused:

And the prices are comparable. 3GB for R199 is not bad

by local standards sure, but the base price is still far to high, and dont forget it.

ISP's are trying to suck blood from stones here just to maintain their customer base, all because of one greedy company that is retarding our whole telecomunications industry in this country with the blessing of our government.

I would hate to think how many axxess customers bailed, purely because of pricing, which is ultimately beyond their control.

VOMIT!!

'Semi-shaped' is quite vague but it is far too early for any of us to speculate. How they are going to provide their own infrastructure is beyond me - perhaps a partnership with the SNO? :P
