Axxess pro-rata discount?

What's this about?

I'm on the 10mbps Axxess Express account which I'm still paying R495 (they had that "R495 for life" deal) for. According to a support representative, the cheaper price was just a special and if I switched I would have to pay more than R495 once the special ended. It seems clear to me that this was misinformation, because the price on the site is R495! This means even if I had signed up for the special there was no way I'd be paying more than R495 right now.

In any case, if I cancel this account and sign up for another with the pro-rata discount, does that mean I will only pay R352 a month going forward?

You missed out on 9 days of usage, so they reduce the R495 monthly fee, pro-rata, to R352 for the remainder of the month only. Next month you pay the full R495 again.

Would it be fair to expect someone to pay R495 on the last day of the month and only get a single day of usage out of the account? No. This way you do not lose out. It is a win-win.

Aah I get it, but it still doesn't explain why they lied to me the Big Summer Scoop campaign...

Oh well, I suppose I'll start looking around for other options. Not liking the service much these days.

I must be having a blonde moment here but you are paying R495 for a 10Mbps uncapped account and on the website it's also listed at R495

You missed my point. R495 was a deal they ran last year sometime I think, but then with their Summer Campaign the price dropped to under R400. I think everyone on uncapped 10mbps ADSL had their price dropped to that, except for people who were paying R495. The only option was to cancel the account and sign up again, but the rep told me once the campaign ends, I won't be able to pay R495 again, so I didn't go for the cheaper option. So what did they do next? They made R495 the standard price, which means if I had gone for the cheaper option, there's no way I would have ended up paying MORE, which is what the rep implied.
