Axxess - Update

Dear Axxess

Thank you for the update. It kind of feels like you telling me that you are going to shoot me an hour after you have done it.

I have since moved to Webafrica, thank you for the years of excellent service which you wiped out in one clean sweep.

Regards,

ex - Axxess user

Excuse my ignorance, but why does everyone care so much? You now get semi-shaped for the SAME PRICE as shaped. People should be congratulating axxess.
Why would ANYONE want shaped internet instead? Am I missing something here?

Well, I'm not sure if you realize, but a lot of businesses were affected by this unannounced sudden change. So what? Well. Seeing as though the economy is in the crapper, you'd think that a business would value it's online presence & ability to market/sell/reply to emails for their products etc.

I know several companies who can't afford downtime, but is too small to afford "diginet lines". So calculate the cost of business lost (potential or otherwise, please factor in it, employee productivity) and then weigh up your supposed benefits.

if axxess didn't announce a thing, but opted to pull this stunt over the weekend I wouldn't really care. But they'll still will get irate users because of the switch.

Trust me. Most of us on these forums KNOW what they want and go get it. End of story. I'm not going to be forced into an IS account when I prefer a SAIX account. I don't give a **** WHAT benefits or cost savings there are for me. I chose that account for a reason. End of Story.

If this is the way Axxess conducts their business I'm not interested. kthnxbye

I don't know about you but my reaction tends to be slightly negative when you decide something for me and don't even bother to let me know.

As for the shaped/ unshaped thing. I have a local only account and that is not really going to help me a lot. Other people might find a use for it though.

The main thing for me is that had I wished to have an IS account I would have gone to some other ISP but I chose Axxess because they were SAIX based.

It would have been better if all existing customers remained on SAIX with the option to switch to IS.

Putting new customers on IS is not a problem :)

Excuse the n00b here, but I'm still not getting this. Why would anyone want SAIX which is SHAPED as opposed to IS which is SEMI-SHAPED??

All I see axxess doing here is offering more value for less money...

Again, is there something I'm missing?

Ouch. I wish I could take my vote for Axxess as best ISP of the year back. Will seriously consider moving to Webafrica :( The change is not the end of the world but doing it during the week is inexcusable!

Please be aware that we have done extensive tests with IS bandwidth over the past 10 months and have been assured of the highest quality and support standards.

Absolute BS!!!

You don't need to be a CCIE to tell you IS is slower, any idiot can tell you that. You cannot even begin to compare the mickey mouse IS backbone to that of SAIX.

What we're mostly upset about is the lack of notification... considering the risk of down-time this is unacceptable behavior from a telecommunications company.

Hi ariopp

I see you are still new to the forums. Most posts here are from users that own/work for ISP's slagging other ISP's and tring to get market share.
It's really funny to watch sometimes. Better than DSTV hands down.
See it as an interactive TV show :D

*You Axxess Bastards put me back on SAIX right now*

*Got email from axxess

Pre-paid account switched back to saix.
626 account cannot be switch back as it was always a IS account.
Local account is still a Saix account.

So for you people who have Axxess 626 accounts you are stuck on IS

Mozy I take exception to that! I am a self-employed computer technician and have nothing to gain by slagging off any ISP. I am pissed off at losing almost an entire day running around trying to sort out crap which shouldn't have happened in the first place!

@ ariopp
I believe you have a problem understanding English. I cannot put this any more simply: I chose Axxess as an ISP because they were SAIX-based. I did/do not want IS, if I had I would have directly to them. IS is bog-slow and their latency makes it damned near impossible to play FPS games on SAIX-based servers. I also take exception to Axxess deciding on my behalf which backbone I should use and then making the change without notification of any sort and the resulting f$ckup which cost me downtime. While you might earn money sitting on your backside doing nothing, I don't! No internet = no work = no money.

What is the big issue with IS bandwidth? Bandwidth is bandwidth, as long as it's available when you wanna use it

I would expect the Telkom-haters would want to switch to something that isn't completely Telkom-based but that is NOT the case AT ALL as evident from almost all posts here.
I would actually praise Axxess for taking a bold step like this

If u would have just said in the first place, 'I prefer SAIX because of speed, gaming etc' then I would have understood you.
There is no issue here with my English. The only issue is with ur inability to answer a question the 1st time round.
And yes, I also use the internet to earn money, but u seem to know me better than I know myself...

A lot of people is upset, it seems to be from the number of posts.

We still do have issues with our prepaid axxess voucher, so I'll convert that to a SAIX account.

Hope Axxess learnt from this mistake and will provide a better service in future.

Regards

Libs

I see a pattern here : "Global"; "Net Active" aka Non Active; "yebo"; "World on Line"; "Tiscali"; "Absamail" -"Feel free to add"- where have all the flowers gone? Anybody else see the similarity?

IS = satellite

satellite = higher lag (slower speeds) than fibre
