Anyone know what's up with this? I'm using the IP given on their pre-paid voucher page, which when ping'ed redirects to news.saix.co.za, which times out.

Well, there's only two backbones in SA. All ISP's will use one of the two. Axxess redirects to news.saix.net because they're using SAIX and it times out because SAIX does not receive pings.

The SAIX news server does not accept ping requests from the Windows/DOS command-line. Even when it's working.

Stops some of the ICMP based attacks.

Okay, don't really know what that is (ICMP attacks), I'm sure ICMP is some kind of protocol, but it makes sense to block them then anyway.

OK, stupid me should have tried to connect before trying to ping. Now I'm trying to get the newsgroup list, and it keeps timing out on task of getting newsgroup descriptions; it seems to have got the list of newsgroups.

I'm using Agent 4.2, so does anyone know how I can deal with this? I would preferably forgo having the descriptions, as getting the actual groups seemed quick.
