Axxess is using a proxy service for international traffic.
I received the following from a site I tried to browse:

"This site don't allow users on proxy here!
Your Proxy ip: 198.54.***.***
Your ip: 165.146.76.***.***
powered whit Protector System"

I don't remember signing up for a proxy service!!!!

OK, turns out to be a SAIX transparent proxy

SORRY Axxess!!!

That is quite strange - I have never seen a site that blocks proxy users.

What is the website address?

That is ten two one Telkoms value added transparent proxy which nobody can escape! and not axxess problem. Remember they all are forced to use the crappy Telkom service

Dont be surprised if your saix account goes thru a proxy - telkom saves tons on international bandwidth that way.

I got the same proxy error message. I'm pretty sure its a telkom thing, i had a similar problem downloading stuff off rapidshare.de

Works fine on my IS ADSL connection. But surely IS also uses a transparent proxy, so the problem must be with Telkom.

No-ip.com also reports the proxy service:

*Logged In As: *******.co.za
Current IP: 165.146.***.***, 198.54.202.114

The 198.54.202.114 is the proxy.

Its a transparent proxy on the saix network, its not axxess using a proxy.

Relax and drop the conspiracy theories :)

poor axxess.. I relly feel for those guys...

pr0n or war3z? ;P

Because that's mostly what rapidshare.de is used for.

Yup! Telkom has admited to their caching systems saving them tons of overseas usage! You think you are surfing international when meantime your requested site is loading from within SA...

Caching is a good practice because it saves the customer time, but Telkom is billing us as if everything is uncached and even if it werent, we are still being screwed!

:(

yup.. normally you will find that you pass thru a few different ones but recently i notice i only pick up one consistently. not sure why though, i thought initially it was assigned on connect or something but from what i can tell its always the same proxy reguardless. Pre-nov 1 it was different for almost ever 2nd request but now its like always the same so on those servers that have anti-leech scripts etc you just have to wait till you get lucky and can access it before anyone else in the country gets to it thru that proxy. Not sure though why the change.. Anyone know if its isp assigned ? ie saix assigns a proxy based on isp rather than the random one like before or is it the same for all isp-authenticated accounts on saix going thru the same proxy ?
