Well, she sure makes a lot of bold claims.

Firstly, you cannot point to one case where someone was prosecuted for murder and then say that this holds true for ALL cases, and point at one example where people were aquitted and then say that this holds true for ALL cases. In America there have been plenty of shocking aquittals of cases were gay people were murdered because of their sexual persuasion and then they were aquitted or given a 'slap on the wrist' because the jury was sympathetic to their situation/raging homophobes themselves.

There ARE also Christian fundamentalists that want to enforce their religious doctrine on everyone. They DO wish to outlaw homosexual intercourse and so forth. Hell, some of them support Israel solely because they want all the Jews IN Israel so that Armageddon can begin.

But she is right, imo, when she says that it is bad that Islam requires you to become a slave of Allah. But this can be applied to basically every organised religion anywhere. Becoming a mental slave to anything is a really really really bad thing to allow.

The one thing she says about anti-semitism doesn't ring entirely true. Judaism /Jewishness is a very murky affair. Being a Jew can be both someone who follows Judaism and someone who was born into a family that has historically believed Judaism. She wrongly argues that Islamaphobia cannot exist, but at the same time she refuses to acknowledge the possibility that one can be critical of the Jewish faith without resorting to mindless hatred of people born to Jewish families.

Islamaphobia should, to my mind, simply be defined as an irrational fear towards anyone who practices or claims to follow Islamic practices. There's plenty of examples of people who claim that Islamic people are nothing more than irrational animals hellbent on killing everyone and everything that isn't a muslim. Just because there may be some muslims who believe that (like their evangelical Christian brothers), does not mean it applies to all muslims, just like not all christians are actively trying to spark off Armageddon.

Another big mistake she makes is to point to the fact that Muslims haven't left America as proof that they are not being victimised. Just because it's worse on the other side of the fence doesn't mean it isn't bad on this side of the fence, and it doesn't mean that muslims aren't being victimised, or that it's OK to victimise them because they can leave if they don't like it.

Xarog is right. I must admit I found myself siding with her during the interview and thinking that the interviewer was a ***** for backing down every time it became a bit of a debate.

Then I realized why. Shes pretty and charming. You'd have to a real hard arse to have a proper debate with her. :D
