AYCE open to new signups

Well well well

Everyones favourite site is open to new signups.
And what do u know - no more contracts

they are offering a staggered fee system
April 2005 R980
May June July 2005 R880
Aug Sep Oct 2005 R780
Nov Dec 2005 R680
Jan Feb 2006 R680
and this is for their 30GB cap!

Any takers? anyone? anyone?
 
30GB is still better than 3GB/6GB/9Gb.. if the pings and download speeds are OK then why not.. if I had ADSL *choke* I would give them a try.. maybe Telkom could sponsor me a line.. wahahaha.. :)
 
So, they finally woke up, did they? And I suppose they will deny that it was because of the pressure they received from myadsl members.

I'm sure they will have quite a few signups now that the contract has gone, but they can count me out. They change their service like the weather and are still not to be trusted. I don't forget that easily.

I personally would rather go with a company who can be trusted - such as UUNET where they offer unlimited ADSL for less.
 
Interesting. I wonder why they have a sliding scale? Their contracts with Telkom? Pity for the poor okes who are now locked into 12 month contracts. Don't sign contracts folks ...

I once signed a 24 month contract with Infosat (Sentech) ... %@$%@$ % bad idea. They killed the speeds 12 months in.
 
I'm with VQuest, the company has proved itself to be untrust worthy and I will not be recommended them.
How do they fix that? Well they stop lurking, post here, address concerns, speak honestly about what has happended, ignore the people out just to flame them, and keep things stable for a while
 
Have to agree with DFantom and Harth on this one.

They firstly had no business sense with the 12-month contract, proving them incapable of having any knowledge of the local market and now essentially they've gotten 'free' advice from forumites and have now done the necessary changes...I also find the sliding scale/per month a bit suspicious...

uunet offer uncapped adsl with slow or next to nothing p2p wise.
their ping times for gamers local and international arent good.

acye march offer was r 480.oo for 30 gigs yes its not uncapped you guys gonna tell me 30 gigs isnt alot?
gaming pings are good p2p is basically full throttle

ayce vs uunet their is no contest

for the ppl clever enough to have signed a 12 month contract at R 480 a month are smilin all the way while uunet users are struglling with pakcet loss no gaming and 2kbs on p2p shame well atleast you can drop them next month

Sadly i'm inclined to agree with killadoob.
So far AYCE is yummy (From a provision and bandwidth perspective).
But - what will the future hold ..... that's still the question.
 
killadoob might have some valid points here. But the bottom line for me is that these guys (ayce) have proved that they can't be trusted. Until I'm proved wrong, I still feel they are a fly-by-night company who can stop providing the service anytime they please. There is thankfully no longer a 12 month contract, but I personally can not afford to throw away R980 if they decide to close their doors one rainy day.

If they conduct themselves in the future, as they conducted themselves in the past (and present), then there are troubles ahead. So no matter how attractive the offer looks, just please think hard and be careful.
 
yea stoke i dont know about the future either but im willing to risk 30 gig and r 480 a month to find out
 
Well it seems they are trying to fix their public image with this new "no contract" signups. However one can still not stop to worry about the history they have created, and history is something you cannot change. Its damn hard to change a current "bad image". They still have a very long way to go before they will gain 100% trust again. Even killadoob who praises them, say that he is taking a risk, though it is willingly, some people like me will just refuse to take that risk, for in my case I believe its a risk that can more than 50% happen again.

I have to agree though, no one can say what the future holds for them, good/bad.
 
One thing bothers me ever since AYCE came up with it's offer, and that is how they do it?

If it's a new technology, than hats down, but I doubt it as Telkom would find out about this, sooner or later, and prevent it (of course).

The only other option on my mind is a specal contract with Telkom, but then... why no other provider is allowed/offered the same?

And, yes, the fact that they (AYCE) keep silent on this, makes me wondering even more.

I heard an excellent quote in church recently and its very true:

"If you want to know what your future holds, unless you change your ways, it'll be a repeat of your past."
 
While the R480/30GB package had a good GBs to Rs ratio (if u ignored the 12 month contract issue), I am pretty sure that u can count all the post-R480 sign-ups on one (fingerless) hand.

That is an interesting saying, but you still dont know the future, you can know that things will be repeat in what you do(if you dont change it). But you cannot know the future of anything besides that which you are in control of...
 
whats the differnece between paying say mweb or uunet for 12 without a contract and paying ayce for 12 months with a contract u still pay 12 months this contract thing gets blown way outta proportion

The difference is, M-Web and UUnet are both trustworthy companies who you can trust will not change their deal 15days after they introduced a new product...

They also dont lie to people...

AYCE threats people on MyADSL when they get bad publicity...

TelkomSA/UUnet/(UUnet Resellers)/M-Web never did anything of the sorts...
