All things being equal , if you placed a B970 and a E220 on your office desk , which ones built in antenna would have a stronger signal ?

Probably the B970. Because of its size it most likely has a bigger antenna.

Definately seems to be running quicker , although now I have to figure out how to use the MDMA dashboard with it .

Just plug the USB cable into your machine and fire up MDMA. You may have to install the Dashboard software that comes with the B970 first before your machine will detect it (I Had to with the Vodafone B970).

Thanks Morkhans , are you talking about the usb cable thats in the box ? I am a bit vague here as the guys that have lent it to me installed it themselves (automatic connection) I think . Seeing as its a loan one I dont want to fiddle too much just yet .

So they have probably set it up as router? You are connected via a LAN cable or WiFi? The USB slot doubles as power when connected to mains and USB/Comms when connected to a PC. So when you connect to it using the USB cable it acts exactly like a E220/E272 etc.

Note: Wifi will not work in USB mode.

Its connected up Wi-Fi mode . Thats probably why you cant use the MDMA application in Wi-Fi , or can you / because I really like that especially with pre-paid .

MDMA requires the device to be physically attached to your machine (Just like VMC, Fastlink etc).

Do you know of an application to monitor your data on the B970 ?

What when it is in router mode? The web interface has a session counter, but your best bet is to monitor your usage in vodacom4me (if you are on Vodacom) or whatever method MTN has for monitoring data usage.

Yes , when its in router mode . The only way I can see what the router is doing is by "dialling" into it . I am on prepaid MTN .

Then you need to use whatever methods MTN has for you to monitor your usage, which I suspect will be USSD codes, which means pulling the SIM out and sticking it in a modem.

Give Vodacom prepaid a whirl. I find v4me is way more useful for monitoring and managing things. Granted it does break from time to time, but for the most part it works :)
