This baboon was just spotted near Bowwood Road Claremont, right near Cavendish Square. So be on the look out.

A baboon is currently roaming the Constantia area in the Western Cape, authorities said on Friday.

Baboon Matters founder Jenni Trethowan urged residents to keep their distance from the animal.

“The baboon that is currently on the move through Constantia is what is referred to as a dispersing male baboon. This is entirely normal behaviour. When young male baboons reach a certain age, they leave their family troop and look for a new one,” she said.

Trethowan added, “It will try to get across the Cape Flats to get to Hottentots-Holland and in the process, he will be looking for troops.”

AFAIK Malema is currently in Gauteng and he doesn't normally look for troops but they come to him.

hmmm I pretty sure there are more wild animals roaming around in CT!!!! :}

Saw a video clip of a Leopard in Blouberg last night, poor animals are having their habitat encroached on more and more, seeing as the province is giving away plots of nature reserve to curry favours for the tolling companies.

I heard about this... and no one believes me :(

That bugger made his way into Harfield village and plonked himself down on top of HobNobs roof. Hope they managed to get him to safety, hes a long way from home.

Shew - he must've heard of the cheap beer, jukebox and Nigerians that now frequent the place.

:cry:

7-10 years ago, I had a friend that stayed 2 roads away from HobNobs.
Back then it was a nice "local" (as the Brits would have it)
Beer, jukebox, sports on telly and pool was fun any night of the week.

At least there's still Rascals :)

To SanParks - get that baboon before he goes there! :twisted:

Serious ? Are there leopards in Blouberg ? I once saw a mountain lion on Signal hill many years ago. Also funny thing re this baboon , about 4 weeks ago my dad swears he saw one on his neighbors roof , he lives in the CDB up against the mountain. I thought he was kidding but now I am not so sure

Ahhh... good to be there! Is a really nice area with totally relaxed people, bar the odd shouting here and there :D

Agreed, went there twice at most, about 4 years ago, can see what you mean.
