So I am planning a Bach Party. I want us to be able to stay over at a place that preferably offers exclusivity bookings, or at least has modular accommodation units where we will not be disturbed, or disturb many other people.

I am looking near to JHB, as in 1.5 hour driving distance. So Harties/Magalies kind of distance.

We will end up being between 10 and 20 guys, most likely in the 12 - 14 region. Need a braai area and pool. Anything else on top of that would be great, like darts and pool table rec room, fire pit etc. We don't need the best amenities or sleeping conditions, but backpackers style bunk beds are a huge con on the list unless everything else about the place was perfect.

Self Catering is preferable, a breakfast option would be nice, but not a deal-breaker. We would like to do our own braai, but if the place does it for you at a reasonable rate, then I am down for that too.

The only major deal-breaker would be a place the refuses to allow you to bring your own drinks in. Or even a place that charges a corkage fee. No point in spending cash on accommodation and then being told to buy your drinks at 200% markup at the cash bar. Even if they offer free selected drinks in with the package, some of the guys are not heavy enough drinkers to get their money's worth out of that. So we must be able to bring our own drinks.

Depending on the options provided, we would be looking at a price range of up to R500 PP.

So has anyone got some suggestions of places that they have been or know of? I am of course googling and searching around the net, but word of mouth can sometimes produce a gem that would be otherwise hard to find in the rubble of the interwebs.

Recently had a weekend away with about 40 of us to Anchor Creek Marina at the Vaal. We had 10 bands, DJs, music till 4am and no complaints. Beautiful place too. Also has carnival rides free for guests. Owners are awesome and allow you to bring your own drinks.

Call Jacques on 082 864 9806 or 016 371 2029

Block bookings are R300pp including breakfast, but I'd suggest you make your own breakfast.

Such a cool spot that we're turning it into an annual festival...

I am confused. Ten to twenty guys, in the 12-14 region? Age? Isn't that a bit young?

That place that DJ suggested really looks the biz though, doesn't it?

No our Numbers could be anywhere between 10 and 20 guys, But the likely numbers that will end up confirming will be between 12 and 14 guys.
