posted on this topic b4 but my tread was hijacked.
here
random actual disconnections while dashboard remains 'connected'
now 0 access to anything outside south africa.

it is not my MTU settings, i've been using iburst for about 3 years nothing has changed, except the quality of service/time it takes for iburst to answer phones etc.

the same thing happened after the whole billing fiasco in february, when i wasn't debted since november 2009 and had my internet cut off. but then stopped hapening a few days later and now it's back. your technician at the call centre checked my bandwidth, which i already knew was good, and said everything should work fine now, it's not.

Edit: oh wait now it's back again, should i post again when it fails?

I've had problems all day too. Some international connectivity has been restored in the last few minutes, although some sites still aren't loading for me.

No online games for me
Downloading between 10-15kb/s with no other internet usage

1. Why is my server noted as being in Johannesburg? Yesterday i was being directed through Gaborone:erm: beautiful landlocked country, not very good internet

2. Why does iBurst hate Cape Town so much?

3.You do realise that hostility toward iBurst would be significantly less if you used something called "E-mail". Considering that your company actually provides an "E-mail" service i'm surprised the PR department hasn't realised this.

Please use this as an example.

Dear valued customer,

Please note that Cape Town is currently having technical difficulties in accessing foreign internet servers. We believe the problem occured because cable theft/koeberg meltdown/ rampant over fishing etc. The issue has been noted by our technical team who are currently in the process of rectifying it.

Regards,
iBurst

That took me all of 3 minutes to write
The result will be fewer phone calls to your help desk so they don't have to put people through the mandatory 5-15minute holding period. I, myself, would feel happy that iBurst are aware that Cape Town exists and that they provide internet there.

1. I think you are misreading speedtest.net results. The location is selected by the web site user. Botswana has great internet: http://www.speedtest.net/result/736438598.png
2. iBurst loves Cape Town. It has it's own upstream peering link and as soon as CINX provides as physical access to their premise as IS, then we will have a presence there as well.
3. I understand, but there are a greater number of subscribers who view this type of communication as spam. :-(
