Hi guys

i wana make a backup of my c:\ drive ie everything windows related in case of a crash i can just reload it on new drive and carry on as usual?? any ideas? something that i can use to create a mirro of it and just copy back that will keep my installed programs ect without having to re install windows ect?

Thanks

I'd say try Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.
But you'll need another pc to reload your drive when it does crash with that software on

thanks! but what is everybosy else using???

To be honest... I never do an entire disk image... it uses a ton of space... and I prefer just to back up my "My "Documents" "Folder and other data folders.

If I have to re-install I always do a clean install... and follow a set procedure... then restore my data files.

(I also have a backup of My Documents on my second hard disk)

There is the risk that imaging your drive may copy system errors and malware along with the entire image.

make sure you get the following...

1) My Documents
2) Shared Documents (if you have)
3) E-mail (unless you use an online Mail system) Data folders...
4) Downloaded Archives (your Zips Folder or your Down Folder)
5) Videos, MP3s, Images, etc. (if you keep them seperate to your docs).
6) Data files from accounting or database programs
7) Profiles from Firefox, bookmarks from IE, etc.
8) Contacts (if seperate from Outlook/E-mail)

...etc.
