What's the easiest way to backup & restore the default Mail app in Win10?

TBH, ever since I got my GMail account back in the early 2000's (when you still required an invite) I have passed all my email through GMail. It sorts out most spam and it keeps an ongoing backup of my mail. In today's world where we have multiple devices like pc's, phone and tablets, having cloud based email, contacts and calendar is so much easier.

Having not used Windows mail since it was Outlook Express, you may need to look on Google for a way to copy items across to GMail. There after have GMail collect mail from all your addresses and you mail client collect from GMail. Now you have a constant backup accessible from any device.

@ponder - The Win 10 Mail app will sync Gmail and Outlook.com accounts as a matter of interest, making it easy to run both simultaneously in one app.
NB: You do not require a Outlook.com email to create an Microsoft Account conversely a Google Account does not require a Gmail Email.
We run our Google Account with a Email domain other than a Gmail.com.

You don't have to backup Emails as such if you are setup with Windows Mail and all accounts are IMAP as the Emails are stored on the respective Mail account servers.
They will be synced after re-installing Windows along with the Mail App once Accounts have been setup again.

Individual Emails can be saved from the Mail App as an .EML file. However that maybe very tedious with loads of Emails.
