I want to format my hard drive and do a new clean install . My windows XP installation currently is up to date. I would like to know if it is possible to make a backup of all the installed updates before I proceed with the format. Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry bro, I googled but I found zip, nada, niks! ;)

It is possible. But I would rather just download AutoPatcher which is 200mb or so and it has all the updates, programs etc from Microsoft. It also includes Java, Flash, etc.

ajak. Thanks for the reply, but I do not need software to backup my system, I just want to back up all the installed windows updates so that I can reinstall it after I did a format and clean install. Any other suggestions?

It is best to get a copy of the sysadmin updates (not sure of the real name). This is a large updater that can be used on multiple PCs in an organisation, so that each machine need not download everything. It used to be available on the windowsupdate site, but I would not know as I have long since prevented windoze from corrupting my system, installing spyware etc as it sees fit...

AutoPatcher XP is awesome. I've used it 3 days ago. Download AutoPatcherXP, Back it up to disk, Format, Install your OS, Update to SP2 (if you need to), Install AutoPatcher XP. '

The lastest one was release a few days ago (AutoPatcher XP August). It comes with all updates/security patches up to 12 August 2006. I highly doubt you are going to find anything close/better than this util.

Autopatcher is indeed the best. I would not even bother to back up my previous updates. Just use Autopatcher XP August ed.
