Howdy,

Help!

I have a CPE in one room, and a router in another. I have a backup power device with all the necessary power connectivity. However, the ****ing devices are obviously too far apart.

So, what would be the easiest manner in to sort this out? The power thing has PoE - would there be something I can power via that, which will beam wifi thoughout the house? I will also need to hard-wire some devices.

Thanks in advance.

Doubtful either device supports being powered over PoE and the voltage wouldn't be correct even if you just wanted to feed off it.

Depending how far away the two rooms are from each other you might get away with a long extension (twisted pair cable like they use for alarms should work nicely), but might have problems if the run is too long.

Easiest is to just get another mini UPS or move the two devices closer together.

If you already have a LAN cable running between them you can look at getting 2 of these to inject POE (with gigabit speeds) and then split it out on the other end using a double ended barrel jack. Just make very sure your polarity/voltage is correct :p

Alternatives:
https://scoop.co.za/4-port-gigabit-passive-poe-injector.html
https://scoop.co.za/passive-poe-injector-and-splitter-set-dc.html (may be limited to 100mbps)

P.S. don't forget to double check your LAN/POE connections as you can end up sending 12v to the LAN port of your device and send it to the moon....
