Backup Solution

I have a home network consisting of 3 notebooks. The network is wireless using a DLink DSL 2740U router (802.11b/g/n)

I need to install a solution that will automatically backup all 3 notebooks.
What is the best method to do this?
I would like to include the additional option of removable hardware so that I can have off site backups

I'd love to find a backup solution that doesn't stop with errors every time is passes over a "locked" file, such as Outlook. Any suggestions will be appreciated thank you.

You could install a Netgear NAS solution which is designed to do this.

For what it's worth, I have a linux box (Ubuntu) with backuppc which does the job for me.
