Hi guys

I'm looking for software that will do scheduled incremental backups of my C drive to an ISO image on another drive.

It's for home use, so the huge corporate commercial software packages are a bit of an overkill...

I can only imagine that it would be to manage backups more easily. 1 ISO per day, vs 20,000 files in random folders a day. Backup software dependent ofcourse.

Mounting an ISO shows only the data backed up for that date, not that I'd go the ISO route myself.

In other words windows backup pre-Win7 in an arb format

I have this thing on my PC called "folders"....

Can I ask why you want it to an ISO Image?

Oops. Sorry, I had to step out for a moment...

I need it for when my HD gives up the ghost - I have such a conglomeration of software, interacting with each other, that evolved over the years, that I'm afraid that I will never be able to put it all back together again.

Dropping the ISO on another heard drive puts my system back together again, without skipping a beat...

Have a look at clonezilla - it can also create a .ISO image of the HDD in question.

Obviously you'll need an external media, such as a file server or USB hard drive.

Ah! I forgot about CloneZilla! I will certainly give it a bash. Thank you very much ♥

What you are talking about is 'Disk Imaging'.

There are many comercial packages, and a couple of free ones, but i dont know of any free ones that do and incremental image.

Take a look at Macrium Reflect, there is a free version but it doesnt do incrementals, only the full version does.

You win one free internet! Downloaded, paid for, and tested...I've never heard of it, but it's awesome. Good CNet reviews to boot...

Thank you.

Acronis is perfect for that task.. been using it for ages now.. but alas can't seem to find the free version anymore :(
