Hey guys, so this weekend I decided I'm going to screw with my budget again and buy myself a nice 28cm pan.

Read a tip online somewhere that the trick to nice crispy bacon (without burning it of course) is to put the bacon in the pan before it heats up, and heat it up like that.

OMG. I never had such nom bacon in my life. I never could get it nice 'n crispy like I got at some restaurants, and now I can :D

The trick to crisping it is to wrap it in paper towels to get the moisture out as much as possible before frying

Put the stove plate on max, put some oil, wait a few minutes and place the bacon in... never bunch up the bacon, always lay it down flat with no overlaps. turn once and remove.... declicious.

I'm eating bacon right now.

Nope. Cold pan, no added oil or anything, bacon on (not clumped up) and heat was on "3" on my stove. when I saw it turned a nice color I pushed it around (never turning it is also another tip for crispy bacon) and to the side, got my 2 egg rings (I bought egg rings too) and made 2 eggs, also no additional oil or butter, pan was oily enough with the by-product of the bacon. This worked perfectly for me. I tried having the pan hot before. It only splashed oil and burnt more than it made the bacon nice and cripsy (read, NO burning). There's also not much moisture on the specific bacon I had going (nor fat)

The eggs went in and so did my toast in the toaster, by the time the toast was done (I only have a 2 slice toaster) I could dish up the eggs and bacon. Perfectly crispy bacon with an egg just right (not too soft, not too hard) with some sweet chilli sauce

Mmmmm

 hell thanks now i'm leaving work to get me some :D wimpy brek

lol, dude, doesn't compare to the noms I made last night. I haven't wished it was "home time" so badly right now just so I can go make some more :D

Trick is to buy decent bacon in the first place. I'm picking up some smoked streaky bacon from the butcher on Wednesday and that stuff is awesome - especially compared to the pre-packed crap you get from the supermarkets.

Bacon, particularly streaky, shouldn't require any additional oil.

^ This

I grill it.

^ And this.

I use Spray n Cook olive oil and a non-stick pan from Verimark. Best thing is I'm on a high protein diet and have bacon each morning ;) If I have to add oil then its canola oil as its not as greasy as sunflower oil.

I don't do a bacon weave so I don't see why I should preheat the oven for grill and waste the electricity if it's for only 4 pieces :)

What's wrong with you?

I can quite easily eat an entire packet. 250g of bacon grilled to a crispy state weighs a mere 90-100g

Well, there's a lot wrong with me, just browse these forums for a glimpse. However, I cook what I need to eat for that moment. I don't overeat, and if I made more than I can handle, I leave some of it for the next day/meal.

2 rashers of bacon + 1 egg on a low gi honey oats toasted bread with a bit of stork is enough, I made 2 because I figured I'd let loose since it was weekend

My grill heats up in 2 minutes :?

It cooks better under the grill making the fat crispy as I can't stand soggy fat.
