Bacon biltong - Very easy

also thought this...but somehow it's not that salty when cooked in microwave....though i agree, just add very little to it

I normally wash my bacon down with water to get rid of the salt, but when i make this i'll try normal and extra salt and see what works.

I started building a biltong box not too long ago. This is a good enough reason to finish it.

rinse with water? going to do the same.

A biltong box is also what I've had in mind...and trying to find a good bacon supplier for bulk purchase

I wouldn't take that risk

I did drizzle it with vinegar too though. Maybe a quick tan is the pan is safer but either way it dried out pretty well. Bacon, although not cooked is cured and smoked so its not totally raw.

I love bacon biltong. There is a butchery about 500m from me that makes it. I usually buy my bacon from the Eskort factory butchery where I stay. I must give it a try and make my own.

Bacon Biltong

Hey guys.
Tuesday afternoon I bought some tasty treats from Piet se Biltong in Bellville.
One of these treats were bacon biltong. Whole strips of back bacon with some fat, dried with a spice.
It's delicious. I want to make my own. I have a Mellerware Biltong King Box, but just to get some tips on the type of spice and if I must hang them cooked or uncooked. Bacon is still pork, so I am a bit cautious and don't want to get me and my family sick.
Google is not helping much.

^^^ been making my own for a while now (and not dead yet :p ) paprika, sugar, pepper and salt. left to marinate for 2-4 hours and then hang in the biltong box for 2-3 days.

Have you tried making chicken biltong?

Ultra crispy streaky bacon has no peers, and takes quicker to get from fridge to mouth :D
