I'm preparing for the coming season. Am expecting about 15 or so guests over Christmas-New Year. Catering is a challenge, and I want people to do their own thing with minimum fuss.

What I need is a bulk bacon griller/cooker. Something that's better than using three or four pans to do enough bacon.

I've searched online and called a catering supplies company, but can't find anything remotely adequate.

Grateful for any suggestions on how to cook (fry/grill/whatever) 30-40 rashers quickly. Every day. And easy to clean in a dishwasher.

And if you know - is there such a thing as a bulk egg fryer?

Quickest, and tastiest, way to cook bacon in any quantity is in the oven. Spread out the rashers on a baking sheet, pop in a cold oven, turn heat to 200° and check after 10-15 minutes.

EDIT - line the tray with foil and cut your cleanup time down to nothing. :)

Wow, need to try this over the weekend.

15 people staying over for Christmas...... :wtf: Rather you than me. My sympathies....

Keep a close eye on it the first few times - it goes from slightly under to crispy very quickly. :)

I agree. fastest, easiest and cleanest way

@bwana, this is a winner. I have always grilled 'em porkers in the oven, but this sounds like a step up.

Or one of these megafters.

You can easily fry up a breakfast for a number of people and I suspect it uses less electricity than an oven.

He wants to cook between three and four packs - now I can easily do that in one go in the oven but my electric frying pan holds less than a pack (which is the smallest amount we ever cook).

Plus in the oven there's no turning. :)

I'm hoping there is a machine that does all this automatically. I seem to recall seeing something in a hotel in the States some years ago. It was similar to those big toasters that have a moving metal griddle. Put the raw bacon in one side, and out the other pops the grilled rashers.

Ovens and large skillets are too messy.

If you line the tray with foil there's no mess in the oven - cleanup is non-existent.

Most hotels and caterers cook bacon this way.

There's also a microwave approach ...not that I'm condoning cooking bacon in a microwave.

Then your 15 guests (you brave, brave man) can nuke their pork strips to their liking.

The internet exists, can't believe you guys don't know about the bacon kings, Epic Meal Time

Just go watch one of their videos, I'm sure bwana got his method from them ;)

But ye, thats the best and easiest way to get nice crispy bacon done in bulk

Hmm I wonder if your cold oven idea is what I've been doing wrong this whole time because every time I've tried it's come out pretty crap.

Possibly - I've never tried it with a preheated oven :o :)
