Bad customer service? - Takealot

Bad customer service ? Doesn't look like it no; They handled the issue professionally.

I use Takealot often and have no complaints. Will still use them too.

+1.
I've done about 60 orders with them over the past 4 years and not a single problem.

OP is overly sensitive. Looking at responses, Takealot handled it perfectly.

How does the OP know the problem wasn't on his end? was there other complaints? why didn't you try the website later in the day considering lunch time is quite busy for online shopping.

you know, websites falling over due to high demand is not common to south Africa. would love for you to try this complaint in a first country. you would be told to get stuffed and get a clue...sometimes these techy things break.

First off your assumptions are that I'm an illiterate computer user - and that I'm to blame. These are wildly inaccurate. I'm a sys admin by trade and it definitely wasn't on my side. Several colleagues made a purchase via the same line and several had their transactions fail due to technical difficulties.

Secondly claiming that this is South Africa and that we should accept that things don't work is a piss poor argument. You stand up against poor service delivery, you don't champion it or excuse it.

If I complained to Amazon I'd definitely get a different answer, so your argument is moot.

If you can't provide the capacity then don't offer the service.

Their capacity seems just fine for the other 99.99% of the time, but as you say there was increased demand for an unusual special.
So yes, maybe their systems fell over this one time, but I don't see how that is their fault.
Why must they commission additional capacity that may be overkill for the other 99% of the time?

I'm busy trying to win rAge tickets on the Afrihost facebook page at the moment.
But most of the time I can't get in cos it's too busy or too many people posting at the same time.
Should I now go and crap on Afrihost for their pathetic service?

Contrary to popular belief in this thread, its not so damn hard to host a website. Pay for better hosting - it shouldn't be the customers problem, ever and if it is a problem pick up the damn phone or have a fail over system in place that works.

Anyhow, it seems a lot of you are happier with service that doesn't work as it should. Whilst that may be okay for some - it isn't for me. I simply won't purchase from Takealot again.

Thanks for your input.

Cool. I've been buying since 2008, but hey - who would want to try and retain a customer that's been loyal to you for the last 5 years and stayed across a rebrand. That's obviously just a silly idea!

Oh, so we're measuring manhood now.

Here's mine: ScreenClip.jpg

it's bigger than yours.

Still doesn't give me the right to be a difficult customer.

Dude if you can't accept the fact that something can always go wrong, however unlikely, then you're eventually going to run out of places to shop.

This was ONE incident, which happened only to you ONCE, for which they apologised numerous times. You must be in the market for some free goodies if that apology is not enough for you.

taking days to address a customer complaint.

You never posted dates between email responses in your OP.

As to not answering the phone, that is very weird. Especially with them not being able to pick it up on their side. Sounds like the call never went through?

I would blame his cellular provider.
Mine are notorious for not completing calls.

OP, you are not doing your reputation as a whiner any harm with this thread. Just thought that I would point it out...

Yeah, can't say I've ever had to wait more than a few seconds for them to answer a call on the few occasions that I've given them a ring.

Also had some hiccups with them, but they go the extra mile to sort out stuff so I am more then happy with them.

Seems to me like OP is trying a name and shame blackmail to get freebies. Sis.
