Bad pings

Since Friday late afternoon, my adsl pings to local sites has been erratically high. an example of pings done right now...

Friday night the average was around 500ms

Gaming is impossible.

Also had some rediculous latency on Friday afternoon (around about 5pm) sorted itself out after about an hour though..

I've been experiencing this problem since wednesday last week. Think I can explain it to any of the support ppl? Not a chance. They all want me to do a speed test!?! Doesn't seem like they know the difference between latency and speed issues ... of course I get told the usual BS - ADSL is not a guarenteed service.

I've seen it go above 1500 ms and note, that is to the first hop.
