I decided to switch from Mweb's 1Gbs to 4Gbs. Ever since I have been having sync and connection problems. The router is a Netgear N300 ADSL2+. The following are a summary of the problems I am currently experiencing
1. The router is erratic...in the mornings it connects and is fast. When I start it up in the evening it fails to connect at all or does so after a few hours etc.
2. The Internet Port light remains solid red
3. Sometimes the Internet port light and DSL light remain off
4. Perpetual cycle of connection and disconnection
5. At times when it does sync the speed is less than 4Gbs .......more like 1.2/1.7/2.2 etc.
So after contacting tech services and they could not assist the problem was escalated to Telkom. The first technician did the basic checks and said the line was ok but the problem persisted. A second technician investigated today. He tried to connect via my router to his laptop and experienced the same problems. He then connected the line to his router and was able to get a stable connection. He concluded that my router is a problem.
He suggested I that I get my router checked out at Mweb.
Has anybody had this experience before. Do you think that my router is faulty or is it a line problem?
Thanks
Chrisn
