Ok so for the last week i have had a blocked/running nose, i take sinutabs but nothing helps? I wake up some morning and can hardly swallow i assume because i have a nasal drip but my general health is 100%.

Should i go to the doctor or just ride it out?

It depends on the sinutab you use, i suffer quite a lot, and find the best sinutab is the one in the Pinkish box, it has codeine so be wary about too many , and i supplement that with Iliadin Nose drops, the combination of the two really dries up the sinus, and the nose drops are quick acting so you begin to feel better after 5 - 10 minutes.

You don't ride out something like this. You either have sinus infection, in which case you need antibiotics, or you have hay fever in which case nothing will help, as in my case.

before you go to sleep take same TEXA 10 mg or AP Loratadine and you will have a good morning
or
take some Advil CS in the morning it works the whole day, works for me
and sinutab nasal sprey is also a quick fix

You mean nose spray. I have 3 of the bottles lying around. Must say, those helps ... temporarily.

Advil CS helps for myself as well.

Of late I've discovered that 2x Compral tablets works just as well with my sinus.

Hi

See your doctor - it sounds like Asthma related Bronchitis. I've had it twice in the last 12 months (Feb and last year Nov)

I'm now on chronic medication and have not had sinus since then. I take FEXO-180 - it is non-sedative 3rd generation medication (30 days, R180pm). Your currently taking 2nd gen medication (sedative).

No side effects and I only take one pill a day. Where I worked (Technopark) it was sinus hell and I was the only one that had no problems.

But, go see your Doctor and get the right advice. Any descent doctor will look at you immediately if they hear your symptoms.

Take Drixine for 8 hours of *innnnnnnnnhale* relief!

:p

Seriously though...it's a nose spray and sorts me out 1 time. I don't really suffer that much from sinus probs however.

That's what I thought until my missus convinced me to see an ENT. He started off with some tests (immunoglobulin serum test and a Phadiatop test) and then went from there and as a result I've had one bad day in the past year.

What treatment did you get?

Don`t self medicate.

If you have the money go see a GP. If not speak to a pharmacist.

I would avoid just taking the general sinus meds, like sinutab and the likes.
All these drugs do is dry out and harden our sinus cavities and this may not remove the problem all together.
You need to get some antibiotics just incase, this will help any infection in the upper cavities which causes the drips..
What i do is a mix a saline solution, a little pinch of salt, some luke warm water and some bicarb of soda. The bicarb helps break down the mucas and the salt helps clean infection.
There is a trick to taking this though. You need a straw, suck up some solution, just a bit, block the bottom of the straw with your thumb to stop it running out. Get down on ur knees and put the crown of your head on the floor so your nostrils are facing the roof.
Then gently let the solution out of the straw into ur nose, letting it run down the bridge of your nose into your upper cavities(which kinda sits above your eyes and behind in your brow). Give it a few seconds to get in there and move around, then grab a tissue or watever and let it out. Often a little blow helps.. Rinse and repeat.

This might sound a bit strange and over the top but it WORKS. Ive been to many nose doctors and well this is the best advice. I live with sinus problems daily, and once a year i have an attack when the weather changes. These attacks leave me partially blind in one eye because of the pain. Using general meds just make it worse.
My dad has just recently had to have holes drilled into his forehead to let some of his 'problem' out. I feel im going down the same road.
I try and use daily spray as well, called Flexinase, this is reletively mild, keeps heyfever away and inturn sinus problems.

In fact, the environment where you work/live may contribute to your sinus.

Before we moved to Silverton, my SU had no sinus attacks, but after we moved in, she also start to get sinus attacks.

i get it from our work aircons and i swear the carpets as well...
Makes a big difference if theres more dust in the air, and polen as well...
So hard to escape all these things tho, always end up catching it somewhere..
Smoking is a cause as well..

its the only way man - well it works for me because i get it so badly...
Have been to 3 specialists, all recommended the same procedure...
Also said Illiden nose spray will clear up congestion which it does wonderfully except over use can result in dependency and coming off that stuff is hard.. its like crack for your nose...
