I am very unsatisfied with the speeds I am getting with MTN network .

I have a 7.2mb dongle and 8ta branded, I am getting better download speeds with the slower 8ta modem than the afrihost/MTN 21mb mifi router.

Both Afrihost/MTN and 8ta have full signal between 97-99%

This clearly shows that 8ta is far superior to MTN.

imho - 8ta is the way to go ..

Think i am canceling this deal due to the cr@p speed im getting on this 21mb mifi router compared to the speeds I get on the standard 7.2mb E173 8ta dongle.

I have also been gaming with my 8ta network and have had no problems, in fact my ping has been better than a lot of people with adsl lines. But with Mtn it is spiking quite frequently. Ping seems ok but not stable at all..

Obviously this is network related and MTN should up there game...

It could be any manner of issues related to your area (congestion \ tower issues).

Where I am, I have tested all of the networks in 2 different devices. MTN, using 3 different sim cards, came out tops by a HUGE margin....

For me and my experience \ area, Afrihost could not have chosen a better partner for this...

No ways FlashSA, do you live in the tower .. I'm in Beacon Bay and it's appalling.. at work in Settlersway close to CBD it's barely OK.. Drops up and down from 3g to 2g all the time. And its not only me.

I have yet to establish exactly where the MTN tower is in Gonubie, but speed is no problem at all. Vodacom and Cell C are terrible in Gonubie.....

However, I was out for supper a few weeks back at 2 Dogs, and managed to smash a torrent on my S4 which is on Cell C at over a 1 megaBYTE per second...... I have never had that kind of speed in Gonubie. So I guess different areas offer different levels of speed..
