BAD UPGRADE novatel u630 HELP

hi can anyone help me? I did the upgrade firmwere of my merlin u 630 and now data cart don't see the networks!

I can't do another upgrade becouse The Upgrade Utillity after he do the" check modem " stops and says: "firmware upgrade fails, Backup Needs FACTORY ID or IMEI"

does anyone have any idea what can I do about it?

Hi,

1) From which to which version did you upgrade?

2) Did you remove the SIM, before the upgrade started?

3) Was the dash closed?

4) What colour does the LED show when you start the VMC dash with the card installed?

tedmajer, your best bet is to take the card in to a Vodashop or the Walk in Centre @ Vodaworld...

Out of curiosity, what steps did you follow - before you tried running the firmware upgrade?

sim card was removed

dash was closed


the led, on stard flashig red after i put pincode is solid red signal bars are full and status network: Acquaring

everythig works fine ,card just don't see the networks, when i do "serch network" dashbord is crashing

tedmajer, I'm sorry - it was not clear that you were not in South Africa , but what about a Vodafone shop nearby then? - they should be able to update the firmware for you...

The other thing is, is the V14 firmware certified by Vodafone Italy for use there? - there might be subtle differences [or maybe not] between the Vodacom 3G network in South Africa, and the Vodafone 3G network in Italy...although I expect the physical Novatel data cards available here in South Africa and in Italy will be the same make & model...

for now I have ambition to resolve the problem on my own
beside I did't buy this card in Italy and I don't have any warranty for this thing


I think I just need some kind of service program to fix the problem and upgrade the firmwere again,


easy to say, I did't find anything useful yet

I don't think that the Novatel Merlin U630 in Sauth Africa is phisicaly different that the same card in Europe
